SMS Throughput 3G/2G
Hi, what is the SMS throughput on 3G/2G for incoming/sending messages?

That's a difficult question with a lot of factors associated - processing speed of the SMSes, network speed to upload/download, SMS gateway, etc. You'll have to check.
I would suggest using a webservice like Tropo which allows essentially unlimited SMSes to be sent and is only bottlenecked by your network settings.

Thanks for the hint how I could test it myself.
Do you have any estimate from your experience?

Processing individually just takes a long time with the direct AT commands. Tropo and similar APIs would be much faster as you'd use a PPP link. You'll have more luck using a RasPi than an Arduino due to memory and enhnaced programming features. Don't know processing time, you'd have to build handlers to send and receive if you're looking for speed.
